At a joint board meeting between Lane County Fire District #1 and Lane Rural Fire Rescue on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2011, both Boards of Directors voted to name the organization to be formed under an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) the "Lane Fire Authority."
An advisory vote was conducted to receive the input of all staff and volunteers, and the overwhelming majority recommended this name to the boards.
The boards also voted to implement the draft IGA that was presented at the January board meeting, which will take effect July 1st, and named LCFD1 Fire Chief Terry Ney as chief of the Lane Fire Authority.
In other business, the LCFD1 Board was informed that the district was the recipient of a $2545 grant from the Special Districts Association of Oregon as a 50/50 match to fund the installation of security fencing at the Spencer Creek Station.
The Board also declared a 1977 Mack fire engine surplus, and received a report regarding the flood damage sustained to district property last month.
The LRFR Board was informed that the district was the recipient of a $34,000 Assistance to Firefighters grant for upgrades to the vehicle extrication equipment.
Both Boards named Terry Ney to be budget officer for the districts for the upcoming fiscal year, and approved the budget calendar that was presented.
Next months joint board meeting will be Thursday, March 8, at 7 p.m. at Lane Rural Fire Rescue station 51 at 29999 Hallet Street in Eugene.
